Exploratory cycle tour in the Quellenviertel – experiencing water features in a mindful way

Sometimes it doesn’t take much at all. Water, a quiet spot and a few minutes when you simply don’t have to do anything.

featuring 24 mindfulness exercises along rivers, lakes and other bodies of water.

Water is a constant companion on this exploratory cycle tour through the Quellenviertel. At times, the Inn flows peacefully alongside you; at others, the Salzach rushes past; and at others still, a small lake lies completely still amongst the moorland, woodland and meadows. And sometimes, that’s all it takes to quiet your mind a little.

Along the route, 24 special water and resonance spots are waiting to be discovered. River mouths, lakes, bathing spots, viewpoints and tranquil natural spaces – each has its own unique atmosphere. There are also short mindfulness and reflection exercises to help you look more closely, listen more attentively and consciously appreciate the moment.

It’s not about ticking off all 24 spots as quickly as possible. Quite the opposite. Stop wherever it feels right at that moment. Dip your feet in the water, park your bike, take a deep breath and see what happens. Sometimes the best discovery along the way is simply a bit of peace and quiet.

But there’s much more to discover along the Discovery Cycle Tour: nature, sweeping panoramas, exciting stories, special places to discover, regional moments to savour and cities will also be part of your tour. The water features add a distinctive touch – tranquil, contemplative and always close to the element of water.

24 resonance spots – and each one feels a bit different

From the mouths of the Enknach, Mattig and Moosach rivers, via Holzöstersee and Höllerersee, to the Salzach Gorge: these waterside spots showcase just how diverse the landscape is along the Discovery Cycle Tour.

Some invite you to take a dip, others to observe, marvel or simply sit and relax. The accompanying reflections will help you to consciously take in each spot – without rushing and without any fuss. Find your spot, take your time and see what strikes a chord with you.

The Heratingersee (also known as Ibmersee) is surrounded by moorland, is up to 7 metres deep and covers an area of approx. 32 hectares. The entire lake is a nature reserve and is one of the warmest bathing lakes in Austria. The Ibm lido invites the whole family to swim.
