Simbach am Inn

Simbach am Inn, Bayern, Deutschland

Once a stopover on the Orient Express, today a cross-border medium-sized centre with Braunau am Inn, surrounded by the nature of the Lower Inn European Reserve.

The small town of Simbach a. Inn in Lower Bavaria is located on the lower reaches of the Inn, nestled between wooded hills in the north and the river in the south. It is the youngest of the three towns in the Rottal-Inn district and, together with the neighboring Austrian town of Braunau, forms a cross-border medium-sized center.
The face of Simbach is shaped by Art Nouveau. The carefully renovated town hall from 1910 is a living testimony to this. Many architectural accents combine to create an interesting town center, nestled in a lot of greenery. Three bridges - one railway bridge and two road bridges - provide the connection to the neighboring Austrian town of Braunau.

Beautiful hiking trails lead through the large forests of the northern hill country. Viewpoints such as the Schellenberg, which at 549 meters above sea level is the highest elevation between the Inn and Rott, offer charming views of the Inn valley and the Alpine foothills. The construction of river power stations created huge reservoirs along the Inn, many kilometers long, broken up by untouched islands covered in floodplain forest. They became home to numerous water birds, the likes of which can now only be found in a few areas of Europe. The "Unterer Inn" bird sanctuary was declared a European reserve in 1970.

Also worth seeing in Simbach are the local museum with constantly changing special exhibitions, the Zollhaus Museum - Forum of Modernism and the "Mariä Himmelfahrt" parish church in the Erlach district.

Simbach is a very good place to live and work. Our guests also feel at home with us. Simbach is a lovely and livable small town - cozy, Bavarian, with tradition and history, but also modern and with a future.
