Haag am Hausruck has been a popular destination for day trips since the 1960s: the beautiful landscape of the Hausruck Forest, the local amenities, and its easy accessibility invite you to explore this town, home to Upper Austria’s steepest market square.

The main attraction is definitely the Luisenhöhe adventure mountain. From summer 2015, the new mountain railway should be in operation as a replacement for the old chair lift. Then the only way is down on the overhauled summer toboggan run which is great fun for the whole family – whether fast or at a more leisurely pace, whether young or old. The same is true of the “trail of the senses” with its 30 stations. This extraordinary themed route provides conscious access to natural phenomena and their elements.
The 32 metre high panoramic look-out awaits you at the end of the pathway. From here you can enjoy the wonderful panorama from Ötscher in Lower Austria to the Untersberg in Salzburg, and from Innviertel to the heart of Upper Austria. If you still want more, the “goruck” high wire park is the ideal place to enjoy recreational activities.

Action-packed and full of culture

As well as the Luisenhöhe, Haag also has many other sport and leisure possibilities to offer. It’s up to you whether you prefer to play golf on one of the most beautiful courses in Austria, play tennis in the Atlantis sports park, hike in the peace and nippy air of the Hauruck forest or enjoy the attractive landscape by bike. In the cold seasons there is plenty of scope to enjoy ice skating, curling, tobogganing, skiing or cross-country skiing.

Culture aficionados should visit the new Haag local museum which is located in the picturesque Starhemberg castle. The museum houses exhibits from the former brown coal mining industry, illustrates country life with the tools of our forefathers and has the best locally produced handicrafts with their guilds. You can also learn about the time of the peasant wars and Emperor Napoleon.
