Reichersberg Abbey

Founded in 1084 by Wernher von Reichersberg, Reichersberg Abbey is owned by the Augustinian Canons. “Live with joy” is the abbey’s motto. And indeed, a visit to the Baroque complex is a true delight—both culturally and culinarily.

After a major fire in the 17th century, the abbey buildings took on their current Baroque form. Grand and imposing, Reichersberg Abbey towers over the Inn River. Arcades and onion-domed bay windows line the Baroque complex, which is arranged around two courtyards. The abbey is home to the Augustinian Canons, who have lived and ministered here for more than 900 years. In addition to their pastoral work, they also place great emphasis on culture. Year after year, the “Reichersberg Summer” attracts visitors with festive church services, exhibitions, readings, cabaret, and jazz.

Renovated and transformed into a cultural hub of the Innviertel region, Reichersberg now shines in new splendor. Thanks to its lively program of courses and seminars, the Reichersberg Canons’ Abbey has made a name for itself far and wide as a religious and cultural center.

Monastery Shop
No visit to the abbey is complete without a tour of the abbey shop. The selection includes healthy foods, wines, liqueurs, fine brandies produced on-site, books, and souvenirs.

Tasting and Socializing
The Abbey Wine Shop offers more than 60 wines from abbeys and monasteries. In addition to by-the-glass tastings, guided tastings are also available for groups outside of regular opening hours.
