In den Grüben - Street of Fame

Burghausen, Bayern, Deutschland

Contrasting promenade and "Street of Fame" of the jazz legends.

On the south side, the town square flows into the Grüben, Burghausen's former artisan street and today's pedestrian zone. This is an ideal place to stroll, shop and relax. The Mautner Castle is the final part of the street, an outstanding architectural monument.
The Grüben was first mentioned in documents as "fovea" (pit) around 1225. Almost all of the houses belong to artisans; mostly from the late Gothic period. Over the centuries, it has been repeatedly flooded by devastating floods. Since the construction of the riverside street as part of the flood protection measures, many houses have been renovated.

The Street of Fame is a highlight in the Grüben!
Legendary jazz musicians who have left their musical mark in Burghausen are immortalized on bronze plaques. A tribute from the city to the jazz legends!
