Pfarre Frankenburg

Frankenburg am Hausruck, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Parish church Frankenburg am Hausruck

The two political communities of Frankenburg am Hausruck and Redleiten belong to the parish of Frankenburg.

The parish church is located at around 520 meters above sea level on the southern slope of the Hausruck and Kobernausserwald forests and has a population of just under 5000.

The parish church is dedicated to St. Martin and belongs to the deanery of Frankenmarkt in the diocese of Linz. The 62 m high church tower has had a new chime with 5 bells since 1950.

The interior of the church combines three architectural styles: the Gothic part was completed in 1528.
At the beginning of the 17th century, the Gothic chancel was demolished at the arch and the church was extended to the east (today's Baroque section).

The chancel is designed in modern exposed concrete and was built between 1967 and 1968 (consecration on 1 December 1968). The large, late Baroque high altar (late 17th century) with its four alternating images is impressive.

In 2018, the parish of Frankenburg celebrated the anniversary of "500 years of the Gothic part of the parish church" and "50 years of renovation and extension of the parish church".
