The Mattig estuary - a natural jewel
A very special piece of nature has developed where the Mattig flows into the Inn: The approximately 1 kilometer long, renaturalized Mattig estuary near Braunau is now a real natural jewel - lively, diverse and inviting.

Targeted renaturation measures have significantly improved the ecological condition of the lower section of the river. The result is a valuable habitat for plants and animals - and at the same time a place to take a deep breath and enjoy.

The Mattig estuary on the Lower Inn has long been more than just an ecological showcase project. It is a popular local recreation area for locals and visitors alike. Walkers, cyclists and nature lovers appreciate the idyllic landscape on the outskirts of Braunau.

Two bridges - the Höfterbrücke and a 100-metre-long wooden footbridge along the Innradweg - make the area easily accessible. The mixture of nature, exercise and relaxation makes the Mattig estuary a place that people love to visit again and again.

Whether for walking, cycling, swimming or simply to switch off - everyone can find a little piece of peace and quiet in the middle of nature here. There are numerous idyllic spots along the meadows and small islands near the estuary that are ideal for picnics. These places are located directly on the Inn, Tauern, Trift and Mattigtal cycle paths and are therefore particularly easy to reach by bike.
