Swimming and boating in summer, ice skating and curling in winter: Lake Wöhrsee offers a nature experience in every season with impressive views of the longest castle in the world, Burghausen.
The Wöhrsee was formed from a riverbed of the Salzach and is 9.5 hectares in size and a maximum of 3.7 meters deep. The body of water, first mentioned in the 14th century, goes back to the term "Wur", i.e. a body of water dammed by a weir. It used to be part of the castle's defense system and was used to operate the ducal court mill. Today, the Wöhrsee offers a wide range of leisure activities, from stand-up paddling to rowing and pedal boating to beach volleyball. Particularly hardy souls can also go ice swimming in the Wöhrsee in winter. Please get in touch for more information.
