This was ceremoniously opened in 1964 and has since enriched the cultural spectrum of the area. The imposing castle is enthroned on a wooded hill above the market town of Haag am Hausruck and presents itself in an excellent state of preservation. The group of buildings extends mainly from the 16th century, but over the centuries more recent buildings have overlaid the original walls, so that today hardly any traces of the former castle can be seen. Today's appearance was decisively shaped by the reconstructions in the 20th century. In the front part of the idyllic castle courtyard, an impressive Nepomuk fountain can be admired. The chapel at the end of the courtyard was rebuilt during the restoration work of 1923/25. During this time, the main tower was also considerably raised, while the towers flanking the gate were considerably shortened. The openings for the former drawbridge can still be seen on the gate structure, but the moat and bridge have long since disappeared. Next to the Renaissance gate is a narrow pedestrian gate. One side of the courtyard is adorned with three-storey arcaded walkways, although the arches of the two lower storeys were closed off in the 19th century. The rooms in the older southern part of the palace are partly vaulted with stitch-capped barrels, while some rooms have beamed ceilings. In the northern wing is the former brewery.
