The gallery regularly hosts exhibitions with the works of local and international artists. Schloss Parz in Grieskirchen has been known as an important place for contemporary art for about 60 years. In the 1960s, the painter Hans Hoffmann-Ybbs and his partner Charlotte Buck established a cultural center there with lively exhibition activity. Today's Galerie Schloss Parz sees itself as the successor to this legendary artists' center. Founded in 2007 by the goldsmith Jacinta Maria Mössenböck and her brother, the art smith Laurenz Pöttinger, the gallery has developed in recent years into a cultural constant and a quality local supplier in the Upper Austrian central region and beyond. The picturesque moated castle of Parz, on which second floor the gallery rooms are located, provides the stylish setting. **History** First mentioned in documents as "Veste Parz" in the 14th century, the former castle with moat changed hands several times. At the beginning of the 16th century it was sold to the Pollheim family, which was influential at that time. In the course of the 16th century, the Pollheim family extended the castle with a country chateau, had it built in the Renaissance style and decorated it with frescoes. The murals on the south facade are a testimony to the extremely critical attitude of the Protestant clients towards the Catholic Church. After a fire around 1820, the owners at the time, the Ungnad von Weissenwolf family, had the castle rebuilt in its present form as a water castle. In 1985 Dr. Georg Spiegelfeld-Schneeburg bought both castles. In 2008, the country castle changed owners. Vitalwelt vouchers are accepted.
