The Lower Town Tower in Vöcklabruck was built in its present form at the beginning of the 14th century on the orders of Emperor Frederick III, who had all the defences extended at this time due to the threat of danger from the east
As one of two heraldic towers, the Lower Town Tower also bears witness to the reign of Emperor Maximilian I in the region and - like the Upper Town Tower - displays heraldic frescoes of the Habsburg Empire and Burgundy by Jörg Kölderer dating from 1502 following restoration in 1957.

The **Lower Town Tower** is open to **visitors** and can be climbed up to the viewing platform in the bell tower. Visitors can enjoy a view over the entire Alpine foothills.
During the ascent, display boards on the mezzanine floors provide information about the history of the town, Emperor Maximilian and the Peasants' Wars.
A model shows a historical view of the town of Vöcklabruck.

Our recommendation: A guided tour of Vöcklabruck combined with a visit to the Lower Town Tower.
