With an age of around 12,000 years and an area of 2,000 hectares, this landscape is an ideal retreat for animals and plants. A well-preserved part of the Ibmer Moor (approx. 100 ha) has been placed under nature protection. This part is almost entirely owned by the province of Upper Austria. However, the most interesting thing about the Ibmer Moor is not its size, but its different types of moor: Low moor or fen, intermediate or transitional moor and raised bog. The moor nature trail was established in 1973 to protect the rare animals (curlew as a ground breeder), the special flora (sundew, water hose, butterwort as an insectivore,...) and to protect visitors (bog holes). A visit to the Ibmer Moor nature trail is an enrichment for your family holiday.
