The venerable church is dedicated to St. Abbot and hermit Aegidius and is located a quarter of an hour from the market - on the road to Rottenbach in the middle of the cemetery. For centuries the actual parish church of Haag am Hausruck, it became a branch church in 1786 and has since served mainly as a funeral church.

The original single-nave Gothic church has a short side aisle on the south side, which is adjoined by the sacristy to the east and the Ägidius chapel to the west. This has been in use as a burial room since the middle of the 19th century.

Through the west tower (height 30 m) we enter the simple church interior. Unfortunately, the decorative Gothic ribs are preserved only on the vault under the gallery. In the nave they were completely removed in 1849 because they were defective in some places. The chancel is dominated by a large, impressive shortifix, which was brought here from the "Kaiserlehner" chapel in Turnergasse in 1951 under pastor L. Mittendorfer and exchanged for the crucifixion group of the Niedernhaag high altar. During this renovation phase, the artistically less valuable neo-Gothic furnishings from 1865 (high altar, side altar, pulpit) were almost entirely removed and the church was furnished with some works by the contemporary painter Hans Babuder from Altmünster. (Sgraffiti: The resurrection of Jesus and the Christian dying. - Mosaics: The Sorrowful Mother of God in the chancel and the cross-bearing Savior at the priest's tomb).
