There has been a church on this location of Mühlheim ever since the 12th century. It first appeared in historical records in the year 1383. The church you see today is mainly of the 15th century as the building was remodeled in Gothic style around 1500. Among the most noticeable and striking architectural features of the Church are the southern stony door, the west door, the vestry door and the remaining fragments of the Gothic graveyard wall. In the East window above the chapel you will see the only surviving fragments of medieval glass left in the church. Like most churches the building was extensively 'restored' in the Baroque times of the 18th century. The uniqueness of the precious stucco works of the Vierthaler arts school in Baroque style draw much appreciative comment from visitors and experts. The Baroque high altar dates back to the year 1893. The ceiling murals depicts scenes of the life of Mary. Throughout the Church there are beautiful stained-glass windows which add much to the devotion and beauty of the building. The windows, which adorn the Church, are truly a work of art. The Parish Church of Mühlheim dominates the landscape with its impressive tower that stands 48 meters tall and is a sight that can be seen for miles around.
