Johann Georg Meindl was born on 23 April 1682 in Weng im Innkreis. His parents Cyprian and Maria Meindl ran the Tafernwirtschaft No. 37 (today's Gasthaus Zillner in Oberdorf). His father came from a respected middle-class family from the nearby market town of Mauerkirchen, his mother from the Kasingergut estate in Weng. Johann Georg Meindl went down in history as one of the leaders of the Bavarian uprising of 1705/1706 against the imperial Austrian occupation. Although Meindl was labelled as one of the "main rebels" in the Bavarian lowlands by the imperial forces and was sought after, he could not be caught. After the popular uprising, his path led him to the archbishopric of Salzburg. Meindl joined the bodyguard of the Salzburg archbishops. He died in Salzburg on 9 April 1767. The municipality of Weng honours the insurgent with a memorial plaque at the Zillner inn, and there is also a Johann Georg Meindl street in Weng.
